New Around Sugar Land & Richmond | October 2026

There always seems to be something new opening around Sugar Land and Richmond, but unless it’s right along your normal route, it can be surprisingly easy to miss.
So for this monthly series, I’m keeping track of some of the new restaurants, coffee shops, stores and places to do something different around our area. I’m not trying to include every single opening — just the ones that caught my attention and that I think are worth knowing about.
Here’s what’s new this month.
New Places to Eat & Drink
Dumont Creamery and Cafe | Sugar Land
This one just opened in September, so it’s definitely still new.
Dumont opened its first Greater Houston location in Riverstone on September 12. It’s part coffee shop, part ice cream shop and part dessert stop, with coffee drinks, milk teas, slushies, pastries and ice cream all under one roof. Some of the drinks are a little more interesting than the usual coffee-shop menu too — things like a date cardamom latte and pistachio white mocha.
It seems like an easy place to stop for coffee in the morning but also somewhere you could take the family for ice cream later in the day.
Opened: September 12, 2026
Location: 4734 LJ Parkway, Suite 300, Sugar Land
What you’ll find: Coffee, ice cream, milk tea, pastries and desserts
More information: Dumont Creamery and Cafe
La Placita Cafe | Sugar Land
This may be one of the more unique new cafés I found.
La Placita is a family-run halal Bolivian café that opened in Sugar Land over the summer. They serve traditional items like salteñas and empanadas, but what really caught my attention was the humita latte — made with corn milk, cinnamon syrup and salted cold foam and inspired by the Bolivian corn dessert.
I always like finding locally owned places that bring something we didn’t already have everywhere else, and this feels like one of those.
Location: 1055 Eldridge Road, Suite 400, Sugar Land
What you’ll find: Bolivian food, coffee, pastries and specialty drinks

Landry's Seafood House | Sugar Land
Landry’s opened its new Sugar Land location on August 24, near the Southwest Freeway and Grand Parkway. The restaurant focuses on Gulf Coast seafood with some Louisiana influence, and this particular location also has something families may appreciate: an outdoor playground next to the patio.
It’s obviously not a new name to Houston, but it is new to Sugar Land and is currently the only Landry’s Seafood House in Fort Bend County.
Opened: August 24, 2026
Location: 19740 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land
What you’ll find: Gulf Coast seafood, Southern dishes, patio and children’s playground
More information: Landry’s Seafood House
Della Coffee + Wine | Richmond
I really like the concept behind this one.
Della Coffee + Wine opened this summer inside Indigo in Richmond. During the day it works as a coffee shop with breakfast, lunch and pastries made from scratch. Later in the day, the menu expands into beer, wine and shareable food, and there’s also a small market with pantry items and local goods.
It was created by husband-and-wife founders Becca and Douglas Roses, and the whole idea seems to be somewhere you can stop for coffee in the morning but also come back for a glass of wine later.
Location: 1255 Mercantile Street, Richmond
What you’ll find: Coffee, breakfast, lunch, wine, beer and a small market

New Places to Shop & Do Something Different
Escapology Escape Rooms Sugar Land | Sugar Land
If dinner and a movie is getting a little repetitive, this gives you another option.
Escapology opened at Sugar Land Town Square this summer and has seven private escape-room experiences. The themes range from murder mysteries and heists to Scooby-Doo and a haunted house, and each group gets its own private room rather than being paired with strangers.
I can see this working for a date night, family outing, birthday or even just something different to do with friends.
Location: 2248 Texas Drive, Sugar Land
What you’ll find: Private, themed escape-room experiences

Nishat USA | Sugar Land
Sugar Land Town Square also welcomed something completely different this summer.
Nishat Linen, a Pakistani fashion brand that dates back to 1990, opened its first brick-and-mortar U.S. store here in late July. The store carries embroidered and printed clothing, luxury styles, scarves, shawls and accessories, with selections for both women and men.
The fact that the company chose Sugar Land for its first physical U.S. location is what makes this one particularly interesting to me.
Opened: Late July 2026
Location: 16160 City Walk, Sugar Land
What you’ll find: Pakistani fashion, embroidered clothing and accessories
More information: Nishat Linen USA
Coming Soon, A Few I’m Watching
Majestic Kitchen | Sugar Land
Majestic Kitchen is taking over the former Mahesh’s Kitchen space at Sugar Land Town Square and is currently aiming for an October 17 grand opening.
The new concept is an upscale Indian restaurant, with an illuminated bar and a more contemporary dining room inspired by Indian design. The final menu was still being developed when I checked, although some early dishes include Maharaja lamb and a pasta dish incorporating Indian spices.
Since the opening is still ahead of us, I would double-check before making plans, but this is one I’m curious to see when it’s ready.
Expected opening: October 17, 2026
Location: 16019 City Walk, Sugar Land
Status: Coming soon
Jabal Coffee | Richmond
There’s also a new coffee-shop project underway at the Market Center at Harvest Green.
A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing shows a 3,600-square-foot build-out for Jabal Coffee at 2310 Harlem Road. Construction is listed from September through November 2026. As always with construction filings, dates can change, so I’m treating this one as something to watch rather than an announced opening date.
Location: Market Center at Harvest Green, Richmond
Status: Build-out underway
Currently listed completion: November 2026
Something New Brewing in Downtown Richmond
This one is much earlier in the process, but I think it’s interesting enough to keep on the radar.
A project called Richmond Station is underway at 112 Jackson Street. State filings describe a renovation of the existing building into a shell designed for future restaurant tenants, with the current construction schedule running through February 2027. No restaurant tenants are identified yet.
So there’s nothing to make reservations for yet — but it’s another sign of new food and business activity coming into historic Richmond, and I’ll be watching to see what eventually moves in.
Location: 112 Jackson Street, Richmond
Status: Future restaurant development
Currently listed completion: February 2027
More to Come
One of the reasons I wanted to start this monthly list is because Sugar Land and Richmond are changing quickly enough that there is almost always something new to discover.
Some months it may be a new restaurant or coffee shop. Other months it might be a store, entertainment concept or a bigger project that will change an area over time.
If there’s a new place around Sugar Land or Richmond that you think I should know about, send it my way. I’m always looking for something worth checking out — and possibly adding to next month’s list.
